  Summary: You will learn how to create a basic worksheet, navigate in an existing worksheet, use built-in functions and format the worksheet.

Prerequisites: Completion of Introduction to Windows, or a good understanding of the Windows operating environment.

  • Understand the basics of the Microsoft Excel program environment.
  • Understand the basics of paper spreadsheets and electronic spreadsheets.
  • Create a basic worksheet by entering text, values, and formulas.
  • Understand the various methods of navigating through a worksheet and a workbook.
  • Create formulas by using Excels built-in functions.
  • Move and copy data by using shortcut menus, drag and drop editing, and toolbar buttons.
  • Understand the use of data ranges.
  • Change the appearance of worksheet data by using formatting techniques.
  • Use Excel’s help and spell-check features.
  • Prepare a document for printing.
  • Gain a general understanding of Excel’s charting capabilities.

 

Intermediate Microsoft Excel for Windows

  Summary: This course teaches the skills and concepts necessary to use the charting and data organization capabilities of Excel.

Prerequisites: Introduction to Microsoft Excel for Windows, or equivalent knowledge.

Class length: 1 day.

Targeted skills:

  • Create charts that graphically represent worksheet data.
  • Modify existing Worksheet charts.
  • Modify existing Embedded charts.
  • Customize charts by applying formatting.
  • Use the AutoFormat feature to enhance charts.
  • Enhance worksheets and charts by using the drawing tools to add graphic objects.
  • Sort information in a list.
  • Locate information in a list using Excel’s AutoFilter.
  • Locate and manage information in a list that meets complex conditions by using Excel’s Advanced Filter features.
  • Maintain list data using the data form.

 

Advanced Microsoft Excel for Windows

  Summary: Learn and use the skills and concepts necessary to work with advanced features found in Excel

Prerequisites: Introduction to Microsoft Excel for Windows, or equivalent knowledge.

Class length: 1 day.

Targeted Skills:

  • Customize toolbars and create styles and templates.
  • Learn how to build advanced functions by creating nested and decision making functions.
  • Investigate worksheet troubleshooting techniques.
  • Edit multiple sheet workbook files, build linking formulas and create workspace files.
  • Outline and consolidate worksheets.
  • Protect and display your worksheet data.
  • Analyze worksheet data by creating pivot tables.
  • Use the Goal Seek, Solver and Scenario Manager to analyze worksheet data.
